Slamming out the layouts!

These are the rest of the layouts I did from the "SLAM" kit. I have to say when I realized I didn't have any more stuff left from the kit I had gathered I was kind of disappointed! I wanted to keep slamming out layouts. On the other hand - I was also getting bored with these papers. I have a few scraps left along with a fair amount of my alphabet stickers. The rest is gone! So I am calling this experiment successful and I am getting ready to gather a new kit! :) It did help me that I chose the pictures to scrap first. Then I got the pattern paper together with them in mind. I don't think it would have gone so quickly if I had looked for the pictures after or just put them on willy-nilly without any relationship between the pattern paper and the photos. But that's just me! :)

More good news! These layouts bring me to 31 for the year! I have finally finished Jumpstart January! Woo Hoo!!! Now I am on to catch up with my "one per week after January" goal. :P

Well - I did what I could... DCA Entrance

I really wanted to do a lot more Scrapbooking this weekend of National Scrapbook Day. But I am in Arizona and Cinco De Mayo actually gets celebrated here so I was having board game night and Mexican Food with my roommate and her boyfriend. And then today was spent at the movies. Everyone should go see The Avengers - totally worth it but also kinda long. So this is my only other layout completed this weekend.

The new entrance to Disney's California Adventure - modeled after the Pan Pacific Auditorium - you may find it familiar if you ever saw the 80s cult classic movie Xanadu. I was so excited when the concept drawings came out! I used DCWV Linen Closet paper for everything, even the banner. Various buttons and small embellishments frame the main picture. I also included a Rolodex card (I have a bunch of them - a great find at the thrift store!) for the journaling. There are two, because I covered one a bit and then realized my journaling wouldn't fit - I can be wordy. :P

Prince Ali! Handsome is he...

My favorite Prince,  Aladdin! I have posed with Al many times  - always a pleasure. This particular Aladdin was a sweetie, he asked about my day and told me a story about his  - which I already knew because I have seen the movie - but it was cute and in character. I was lucky this day because he was in the Oasis when I came off the Jungle Cruise. He had a handler with him but no line! I don't think people were even noticing he was in there - so bonus for me! :)

Background paper is Fancy Pants, the orange banner is DCWV, the yellow is Basic Grey Piccadilly, and the brown stripe is a scrap from K&Co. The small red letters are from Making Memories, the brown glitter stickers are Thickers. I have a box full of borders and I don't remember the makers on them, but, I think these two are K&Co. The red jewels are Queen & Co. Twinkle Goosebumps and the three round decorations down the side are Prima Flower centers but I like them on their own!

Big Thunder - Little Mickey

For the Disney Scrappers challenges, Tami comes up with some really cute and creative ideas! One of those ideas is to highlight a Hidden Mickey within one of the parks - being from Arizona, I always enjoy the cactus Hidden Mickey near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I took a class about embellishment clusters recently and there were other techniques used in the video for the class and I wanted to try them - including using the cardboard and the paint. I'm not sure I love this but I don't hate it.I guess I just feel like it's not colorful enough. I do love lots of color! :P

My 17th Layout of the year! Yes, it's Disney...

the green army men, in fact! These are photos from the "Operation Playtime" show at DCA. The army men drive in and play some games with the kids in the crowd. It's fun and funny - try and catch it if you can! :)

And for my scrappy friends:

For this layout, I had some yellowy polka dot patterned paper that was a bit dull so I stamped it with the star stamp and also with some bubble wrap (my first try for that!) and I also spritzed it. I put down the patterned paper and border strips including the manufacturer strip on of my older cosmo cricket papers. The light blue strip was not sticking down very well so I washi taped the ends. :D The resist stamped "joy" card was a leftover I made but didn't use for another layout. I thought it fit with the play and Disneyland aspects and the color was right so I used it here! The army men stickers are from one of those $1 kid packs at Michael's. I put some stickles dots up the side just for fun and I also did a print and cut on my Silhouette for the yellow Echo Park Arrow.   I liked the two die cut circles and I thought it would be interesting to punch out a distance picture I had of the army men and use the top die cut for a frame. The bottom one was good for a bit of journaling.

Under the Sea - Layout 15

Here is a layout about Ariel's Under Sea Adventure Ride. I gathered together some of the supplies I used:

The background paper and the glittery flower paper is from DCWV Linen Closet. I cut the little flowers out and put them around the framed Ariel rub-on. I got the princess rubons at Joann's for the clearance price of 97 cents! Woo Hoo!!

The chevron paper is from Echo Park Splash and I also used a floral from Fancy Pants My Family

I used a tag from K&CO Wild Saffron (I used the blue one!)

and a card from a Disney Princess Monopoly Jr. Game! It's one of my favorite parts of the layout!

I don't love the journaling or the title on this so that may end up coming off. I will probably re-do the journaling as a printed block and then just let this go titleless!

My 14th Layout of the year - I Love Farley the Fiddler.

I think this is the first time I have ever gotten a good picture of Farley! There's usually such a huge crowd around.

I wanted to use the wood patterned paper for the background but it is super thin so I mounted it on the brown cardstock. I also stamped some on the paper with a stamp that is called spatter but it's more of a rustic spotty pattern. I am also pretty excited because I got to use my new washi tape! I did this for a challenge at Disney Scrappers - the challenge included using a metal star and bandana print. I had to search my stash - I knew I had conchos! I was pleasantly surprised that they were heart shaped. The vintage Mickey Cowboy was a great find several years ago - I got a vintage package of party invitations at a yard sale for 25cents. I thought the fringe (sewing lace department at JoAnn's) was going to be my favorite part of this layout - but I am really digging the cluster, which is cool because I had a really hard time getting it to come together. For some reason, the stamped and misted oval and the date tag really did a lot towards making this feel right for me.

Jumpstart Ja... oh nevermind! - Inside Main Street Cinema

Since I didn't finish 31 layouts in January, my goal is just to finish the 80 layouts I planned for the year! It's not a bad thing - it was a pretty lofty goal. And I did get 12 done! :)

I was able to make a trip to Disneyland during February so I have a whole new set of pictures to inspire me! When I came back and went back to work, there were 2 people coughing up a storm and of course I caught something. I am just now starting to feel functional again although the cough is hanging on. :(

I did try shopping a bit but after the Mall and Hobby Lobby I was wiped out. I was able to get a pad of Graphic 45 paper for an idea I had about Main Street Cinema. I originally planned to use this sheet:

But decided on this one instead - I liked the B - Side for a background and also the ladies with the film reel - even though I ended up covering most of it. I also used a few of the tags from the sheet of them included.

I am pleased with my final product:

The Polka Dot Ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, The two journaling tags are from K&Co "Wild Saffron", The Mickey comic paper is from Sandy Lion, The old tyme Mickey is super old from EK Success, the letter stickers are from Creative Imaginations - Sonnets. They are called Flea Market and this is actually the third pack of them that I have used. They are a nice size and versatile for a bunch of layouts.

I hope this means I have my motivation back! :)

Jan. recap and Wordfilled Wednesday - nothing like being late to the party!

Sooooo, it's February. And I obviously did not finish 31 layouts in January. I'm ok with it though - I plan to catch up soon. I did start working on scrapbooking last weekend but then I decided to try and organize my ribbon. Once I start down an organizing path, that's the end of anything else getting done. I do love organizing. :) And my ribbon really was all willy-nilly.

I also tried to do some scrapbooking last night but after I looked at a bunch of layouts I might want to lift, all my pictures, blogs and websites with inspiration - nothing! So I put it away and will try again tonight. Hopefully something will strike my fancy!

Also, I missed last weeks Donald Duck Fun Fact but I will have one later today. And, I looked and looked but can you believe in all the times I have been to DL, I only have one picture of the partners statue? I was so blown away by that, I never got around to posting a picture for Wordless Wednesday. Also, it was a pretty busy week at work - those types of days where once you are done you just need to relax for a few hours and let your mind be lazy. So there is my big rambling list of excuses why I didn't keep up with my Blog this week! :) I may make up for it with multiple posts today - stay tuned!

Redwood Creek - Jump Start January - Day 12

Here is my latest lift of  French Quarter Style by mysecretheart. Mine is called Redwood Creek Challenge Trail - about the cute little area in DCA where you can follow the trail and receive your Senior Wilderness Explorer Badge (sticker) at the ceremony. Some of the activities are for kids only - but they will give you a badge and let you get your picture with Russell anyway! :)





Jump Start January - Day 11

Well, I did the Resolution Recap layout - Lifted from Thankful in 2011 by tortagialla. I hate my version, it's not as cute as the original. It also ended up containing some personal info that I am not ready to share with the internets sooooo, I'm not posting it. But I am counting it! :)

I want to do a few challenges over at Disney Scrappers. Tami does a great job coming up with interesting challenges and I am pretty far behind! So I think I will try and incorporate some of the lifts into the challenges!

So my next lift will be French Quarter Style by mysecretheart. As much as it seems appropriate, I will not be doing New Orleans Square - I am going to try to do something about the Redwood Creek Challenge area. Of course that could change!

Astro Blasters - Jump Start January - Day 10

I took a break from the scrap lifts and played along with Shimelle for her January Craft Along Project. I like the idea that it's space related and decided to use it for the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters pictures. Mine didn't turn out as nice as hers, it was hard to adapt this to 8.5x11. I am happy with it though and it was fun to try her techniques! I also got a chance to use the vintage playing card I got at the antique store. One of the booths is run by a gal that sells ephemera and other scrapbooking supplies. I got 6 playing cards for $1.50 and they are all cute but this spaceship one is the cutest.

Dumbo - Jump Start January - Day 9

Here is my scraplift of Dumbo by joscie - I copied it pretty closely!

I am 10 days behind for my January goal but I am confident I will catch up! For my next lift I am planning to use Thankful in 2011 by tortagialla. I want to do a review of my resolutions for 2011 and see how I did!

Another interesting thing  - I have already posted more this year than I have any other year since I started my blog. I think getting more involved with the various Disney blogs has helped me get more excited about blogging. So that's cool! :)

Liam's Birthday - Jump Start January Day 8

My nephew's birthday is near Christmas - but his parents have made sure it is celebrated completely separately! This year the theme was Sesame Street. This is a two page 8.5x11. I used different papers from my stash and a bunch of stickers I have had for years. This was a scrap lift of Christmas Eve by carkareokequeen which is linked below.

I was going to finish up some more Christmas layouts but I was so excited doing this one, I think I will do a few more non - Christmas. Maybe I burnt myself out on Christmas! For my next layout, I will be scrap lifting Dumbo by joscie. Aside from the fact that it is digital and mine will be paper, I plan to copy it exactly! :)

Edited to Add: So I am viewing this and it looks like the background paper is red but it is not - it's orange. And it looks much better in person. :)

Mickey Mouse Tree - Jump Start January Day 7

Or maybe I should call it layout 7. I call it Mickey Mouse Tree and it is scraplifted from Happy Holidays by seppa. I love my little Mickey Mouse Tree! See how cute it is?

My next scraplift will be from Christmas Eve by carkareokequeen. I am planning a layout about my nephew's birthday!

Work Party - Jump Start January - Day 6

This is a layout about my work holiday party. I am a little disappointed that I did not get a picture of the Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. But in any case, I do like this layout much better than the last one :)

My next scraplift will be of Happy Holidays by seppa, and it will feature one of my favorite Christmas gifts from this year. :)

Deck the Walls - Jump Start January - Day 5

Ok - I have recovered and finished my next scraplift! This is the lift of JOY by carkareokequeen, I have to say I am not completely happy with it, It just seems to be missing something. It's no where near as cute as the original.

Jump Start January - Day 2

I am still on track for my January scrapbook goal. Of course I have to return to work tomorrow so we will see how long I can keep up! :) Here is my lift of "Tis the Season" by Miss Threadbare. Mine is called "All Our Loot". It features a picture of all our presents - we had opened our stocking gifts but the rest were still wrapped. You can see the Cheshire Cat my roomie gave me in honor of my Halloween costume and also my Donald Duck mug which is not a gift, I've had it for years.



So for tomorrow, I will be scraplifting Sheldon the Elf by Lynn Ghahary. I was posting a picture of the layouts I was going to lift but I think I will just stick with a link so everyone knows they aren't mine! :)
