Been gone too long...

Well, I have been slacking on keeping up my blog, but I do have two new Disney layouts! About two weeks ago I finished up my Birthday Trip to Disneyland so I have about 600 pictures to get into scrapbooks! :D
I also made it over to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (formerly The Wild Animal Park). I have some great pictures from that, including pictures from the Cheetah Safari where I got to meet a cheetah up close. It was amazing!

I have been trying to get 20 of the challenges at Disney Scrappers done by this Saturday. They have an incentive challenge going on there to complete 20 within the 1/1/12 to 6/30/12 time frame. I have 18. and a half. :P

Here are the latest:

Been Busy Scrappin' Stuff...

and I have been lazy about posting it! These are a few I have done for some of the challenges over at Disney Scrappers. They also have an incentive contest going on  - finish 20 of the challenges by June 30 and you get entered in a drawing! I don't think I am going to make it though, I am only at 14. And I also took a break and did one that doesn't fit any of the challenges. So here are the latest:

This is the one that doesn't fit any challenges - but I have love for Mickey!

I like this one a lot! The layout and the story!

Awww! It's Jack!

I like this one a lot too - I think the colors go really well together!

This one has a cute story - and I think the title is clever if I do say so myself!

I am eh about this one - the idea was good but the execution is lacking.

Thanks for looking! :)

New thing I just got - Minnie Minis!!

I stopped into Ulta yesterday because I knew they were getting the Vintage Minnie Mouse OPI nail polishes in June but I wasn't sure when - well, they had them. So I got the set of 4 because I love the packaging! And then I got the one called "Nothin' Mousie 'bout It" in the full size because it was not included in the mini set. I tried it and the little heart sequins in the polish are pretty difficult to get out of the bottle and brushed onto the nail - but it like it anyway!

Slamming out the layouts!

These are the rest of the layouts I did from the "SLAM" kit. I have to say when I realized I didn't have any more stuff left from the kit I had gathered I was kind of disappointed! I wanted to keep slamming out layouts. On the other hand - I was also getting bored with these papers. I have a few scraps left along with a fair amount of my alphabet stickers. The rest is gone! So I am calling this experiment successful and I am getting ready to gather a new kit! :) It did help me that I chose the pictures to scrap first. Then I got the pattern paper together with them in mind. I don't think it would have gone so quickly if I had looked for the pictures after or just put them on willy-nilly without any relationship between the pattern paper and the photos. But that's just me! :)

More good news! These layouts bring me to 31 for the year! I have finally finished Jumpstart January! Woo Hoo!!! Now I am on to catch up with my "one per week after January" goal. :P

It's Tough to be a Scrapbooker!

Well, I tried a new thing today - awhile back I purchased the video set of True Scrap from last year. True Scrap is a set of scrapbook classes that I guess runs as an all day thing originally. Shortly before that happened they offered access to last years videos for a discount price, which I bought. A gal called Shimelle who is a big deal in the scrapbook world offered a class called "Creative Stash Diving." You go to your scrapbook supplies and choose up a kit of things to use. Then you randomly cut up the patterned paper you have chosen and then you just slam together layouts until you run out of stuff. So - here are the three layouts I got done today:

They are all from Bug's Land in California Adventure! Most of the supplies are Bo Bunny, with some Cosmo Cricket mixed in.

Well - I did what I could... DCA Entrance

I really wanted to do a lot more Scrapbooking this weekend of National Scrapbook Day. But I am in Arizona and Cinco De Mayo actually gets celebrated here so I was having board game night and Mexican Food with my roommate and her boyfriend. And then today was spent at the movies. Everyone should go see The Avengers - totally worth it but also kinda long. So this is my only other layout completed this weekend.

The new entrance to Disney's California Adventure - modeled after the Pan Pacific Auditorium - you may find it familiar if you ever saw the 80s cult classic movie Xanadu. I was so excited when the concept drawings came out! I used DCWV Linen Closet paper for everything, even the banner. Various buttons and small embellishments frame the main picture. I also included a Rolodex card (I have a bunch of them - a great find at the thrift store!) for the journaling. There are two, because I covered one a bit and then realized my journaling wouldn't fit - I can be wordy. :P

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Woo Hoo! National Scrapbook Day! Off With My Head!

and I am actually doing some scrapbooking! I had this idea for the Queen of Hearts on my mind for a while and I finally got it together today! I cut the circles, the swirly card suits, the diamond border, the teapot and the teacups on my Silhouette. I also cut the card suit border but I had to do it by welding the individual symbols together then cutting it. It was kind of a lot of work but I think it turned out ok. :)

I was inspired by a Digital layout on Two Peas in a Bucket. It is called The White Rabbit and is by cindys732003.

Prince Ali! Handsome is he...

My favorite Prince,  Aladdin! I have posed with Al many times  - always a pleasure. This particular Aladdin was a sweetie, he asked about my day and told me a story about his  - which I already knew because I have seen the movie - but it was cute and in character. I was lucky this day because he was in the Oasis when I came off the Jungle Cruise. He had a handler with him but no line! I don't think people were even noticing he was in there - so bonus for me! :)

Background paper is Fancy Pants, the orange banner is DCWV, the yellow is Basic Grey Piccadilly, and the brown stripe is a scrap from K&Co. The small red letters are from Making Memories, the brown glitter stickers are Thickers. I have a box full of borders and I don't remember the makers on them, but, I think these two are K&Co. The red jewels are Queen & Co. Twinkle Goosebumps and the three round decorations down the side are Prima Flower centers but I like them on their own!

Disney Almost Wordless Wednesday - Tiki Garden

I am again playing along with Debs Dis at Focused on the Magic for the Disney Almost Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop. Everyone is welcome to link up and there are always great photos from all the participants! The (optional) theme this week is May Calendar Shot. This means choose a photo you would use to represent May if you were making your own calendar! I chose this shot of the Tiki Garden waiting area for the Enchanted Tiki Room. It puts me in the mind of standing there viewing this very sight and enjoying a delicious Dole Whip!

Big Thunder - Little Mickey

For the Disney Scrappers challenges, Tami comes up with some really cute and creative ideas! One of those ideas is to highlight a Hidden Mickey within one of the parks - being from Arizona, I always enjoy the cactus Hidden Mickey near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I took a class about embellishment clusters recently and there were other techniques used in the video for the class and I wanted to try them - including using the cardboard and the paint. I'm not sure I love this but I don't hate it.I guess I just feel like it's not colorful enough. I do love lots of color! :P

My 17th Layout of the year! Yes, it's Disney...

the green army men, in fact! These are photos from the "Operation Playtime" show at DCA. The army men drive in and play some games with the kids in the crowd. It's fun and funny - try and catch it if you can! :)

And for my scrappy friends:

For this layout, I had some yellowy polka dot patterned paper that was a bit dull so I stamped it with the star stamp and also with some bubble wrap (my first try for that!) and I also spritzed it. I put down the patterned paper and border strips including the manufacturer strip on of my older cosmo cricket papers. The light blue strip was not sticking down very well so I washi taped the ends. :D The resist stamped "joy" card was a leftover I made but didn't use for another layout. I thought it fit with the play and Disneyland aspects and the color was right so I used it here! The army men stickers are from one of those $1 kid packs at Michael's. I put some stickles dots up the side just for fun and I also did a print and cut on my Silhouette for the yellow Echo Park Arrow.   I liked the two die cut circles and I thought it would be interesting to punch out a distance picture I had of the army men and use the top die cut for a frame. The bottom one was good for a bit of journaling.

Almost Wordless Wednesday - The Incredibles

The theme this week for Wordless Wednesday at Focused on the Magic with Deb is: Adventure! And what's more adventurous than Super Heroes? These are photos of Mr and Mrs. Incredible, Jack Jack and Frozone in the Pixar Play Parade in 2009. The background paper is old stash and already had the painted look. The large star is a transparency from Colorbok. EK Success Incredibles Stickers, print and cut from my Silhouette Echo Park arrow, various glitter and star stickers and tons of Washi Tape! I think my favorite thing here is Edna in the corner! :) This is a lift from amandaresende called "i am super duper" .

Wordless Wednesday - Hats

The theme for Wordless Wednesday hosted by Deb at Focused on the Magic is Hats! I have no pictures of me in any Disney hats so I decided to feature this lovely lady with her giant sombrero from the Dia de Los Muertos display in Frontierland during Halloween Time!

Donald Duck Fun Fact Friday - Walk of Fame

Hey! Our favorite duck has his own star on the walk of fame!

According to Wikipedia:

In 2005, Donald received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6840 Hollywood Blvd. joining other fictional characters such as Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, The Simpsons, Winnie the Pooh, Kermit the Frog, Big Bird, Godzilla and Snow White.

As you can see above - our guys star is designated for Motion Pictures!

I have seen a few stories that have this award happening in 2004 - so wiki may be wrong about the date! :)

Have a Donald Day!
